Easy to fit
I went for this motor as the leads connected to the motor in the same way as the original. Some others for sale look different. It was easy to fit, seems to be as good as the original and has given the Dyson a new lease of life. For just over £15 this is a real bargain and I would recommend this to anyone who has a motor that has failed with smoke coming out of it. It feels really good to fix an appliance this easily and cheaply. When I say easily it was a little fiddly but actually straight forward. The hardest part for me was removing the motor from its housing, you have to push pretty hard. Everything else was OK. I fitted this to a DC07 by the way and I reckon it was less than 2 hours work start to finish. If I did it again I reckon I could sort it in an hour.

NICE QUIET MOTOR (Relatively)
I have three dc14 Dyson vacuums for my workshop for downstairs and one for upstairs. Over the years that I have had them I have ruined three motors with building and decorating/filler dust which gets between the brushes and the rotor. I've used two or three different brands and this is a nice quiet motor by comparison. Also it's nice and powerful in my opinion. very happy with these motors.

Works really well once in, but needs a bit of effort to fit (DC33)
Works well and no noisier than the original, with good power and suction. However... it's a bit of a pain to fit, as the outer flange diameter seems to be a tiny bit larger than the original, which means that although the original slides easily in and out of the housing, this version is a very tight fit once inside the rubber sleeve (yes, I did double check that the sleeve was seated properly!). Managed to get it back in the end, helped by some washing up liquid to lubricate the rubber seal and some therapeutic swearing. Also not helpful that on the original both leads are routed to the correct side of the motor to attach to the power clips, whereas on this you have one on each side of the TOC housing - result is that threading the "far" lead back on the correct side of the commutator brush holder takes a bit of effort, not helped (as above) by the tight fit within the outer housing. All that aside I think still worth four stars due to the bargain price and the fact that once fitted it works really well - certainly better than paying through the nose for an engineer visit!

The rest of the machine was still fine and I dint want to through it away
My DC14 motor packed up after 6 years service. The rest of the machine was still fine and I dint want to through it away. I bought this motor but was very unsure if it would provide same quality suction and service. When it was delivered I compared the old motor with this one. They looked same, actually this one looked more robust. The wiring layout was much better than the original and it did have a suppressor capacitor fitted as well. Anyway following the instructions I fitted it. It needed patience as it is a multistage job. I had some difficulty in inserting the motor in the old cage but applied some ferry liquid which worked like magic. After installation I switched on the machine and surprisingly I couldn't detect any difference in performance. However, it was not a genuine Dyson product so I had my fingers crossed. I bought this in Nov 2015 and am glad to say that it is still working as first day. We have a big house and it is used almost every day. I being an engineer myself wish to give full marks to the manufacturer for producing such a good and reliable product at a fraction of cost.

Good fit and works well.
Replaced a faulty Dyson DC14 YDK Vacuum Cleaner Motor with this compatible one from First4Spares and it was a good fit and the machine, after replacing both filters as well, is now working as well as it has done for many years. The fitting takes some time and a bit of effort, but there is numerous pieces of advice and YouTube videos providing guidance on how to complete the task.Whilst it is impossible to judge whether this motor will last as long as the original, there is no reason to believe that it won't, and a DC14 that was destined for the bin now has a new lease of life and is working well. A worthwhile investment of money and effort.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. All good to begin with, perfect fit, worked great but only lasted 2 months!! Tried to return for a refund but I was asked for a photo of the problem? Not easy to photo a burnt out smelling motor buried deep inside a vacuum cleaner. Not heard back from seller yet.

My old vacuum cleaner works
I was sad to be told by wife that the Dyson had stopped working and unfortunately they don't produce my model or anything like it now. I purchased a new smaller ball one but was sad to just throw the old one away. I decided to have a go at replacing the motor as it was clear it had gone wrong. I was not prepared to buy a dyson motor as if I failed to put it back together it was going to be too costly just to throw away. This motor was good value and I had watched a few Youtube video before I purchased it. It arrived promptly from France and with some long torx screwdrivers (which are vital to succeed) I managed to follow the steps to take it apart and the reassemble. Hey presto it worked and is as good as new. Not an easy job but Dyson cleaners seem to be relatively well designed to take apart and reassemble. Must admit getting the belts on and off was a little tricky. So now we have two vacuums, one for upstairs and one for downstairs.
