Great product but...
This is a great product and you can sharpen your edges well and maintain them easily. BUT...couple things. The instructions are not the greatest. When you sharpen side edges, you are going to dial in what degree you want to the edges at. Be careful with the file. It'll shave metal down quickly. You don't need to use this every time and only the first if your edges are dull. Otherwise the stones will work fine. Now sharpening the base is a bit different. They talk about sharpening at 89 or 88 degrees, etc., but your setting is going one degree at a time. What they don't explain is that when you buy new skis, they are at a 90 degree angle. In other words the base to the side is a right angle or 90-degree angle. So if you set the tool at 1 degree, you are going to be removing metal and reducing that angle back to 89 degrees. Shops do this to new skis called detuning. Here's the thing: When the ski is at 90 degrees, it will hold edge very well and it will not drift or float back and forth. Most recommend you go down to 88 degrees, but when you do, you might notice a bit of drifting to your ski up in the front. Personally, I like it at 90 degrees, so it tracks straight. To sharpen at 90 degrees, set the tool to zero. Just be careful, because once you remove that metal, you can't put it back. You have to take your skis into a shop and have them stone ground to reset back to 90, meaning they have to take more metal off. If you are experienced sharpening your edges, then you'll know all this and you'll be set to go. Otherwise, take it slow. After you get that sharp edge, you'll want to detune at both ends of the ski a bit. I use a regular file for this, and just detune the edges at the tip in the curve and the edges at the tail about 3 inches up. About 3 to four strokes of the file with light pressure usually does it.

Best option (in Amazon.com) for home use
I don't know why nobody yet mentioned the best feature of this tuner... It allows you to mount your file or stone in any orientation and this is a huge advantage for tuning. Allows you to get much more life out of your diamond stones and/or tune wavy edge profiles like Magne-Traction. Most other products allow mounting only in a single orientation, causing your diamonds to wear down in a single spot and become useless pretty quickly. Also longitudinal mounting of a file/stone prevents contact to the trough of a wavy edge, only sharpens the crests.Angle setting is pretty stable, there is no play once you set it. I'm fine with the plastic body, but there should've been threaded metal inserts for the screws, it just threads into plastic threads instead. You need to be really gentle with the thumbscrews while clamping the file/stone or else it will strip the threads and become useless in no time.I can't say that this product is good value, after all it is being sold for 32 USD in Amazon.de (search Kunzmann) but it doesn't have any considerable alternative in Amazon.com therefore market conditions push the price up. Fair game for the seller and I'm happy with their service, I would like to see them carry the better versions of these Kunzmann Ski Tools though, this version is nearly 2 decades old now, they sell much improved versions of this currently in Europe.Overall, I would definitely recommend this for home use.

Simple, works as expected
I had the old Tognar multi edge tool with stones, but this one is even better. Very easy to use (recommend the videos), and with the gummi stones you run less risk to take too much edge. If you have as many ski to maintain as me this is must have tool (8 pairs for the whole family). I mostly use it for the side edges, and once in a while I would do base tune up at the local ski store. Great buy!

Awesome kit for ski or board edge sharpening
I have used multiple times this season for sharpening of ski edges at times when snow is hard pack or icy. It not only includes sharpening tools but also rubber ski break retainers. This is the way to best enjoy skiing or snowboarding. Just pair with ski or snowboard vise and you are set.

Works great!
If your like me, I waxed my skis every once in a while, but neglected the edges. I bought this kit, sharpened the edges, and I can't believe the difference it made. The icy patches went from ruining my day previously to being no problem with sharp edges. This kit worked exactly as advertised. No regrets with the purchase.

Easy to use
Need to go on the web to find detailed instructions and to identify the specific recommendations for the 4 diamond stones. Works well with little effort.
