Really fun for story time
I read this fairly regularly at my First Five Years story times at the urban library I work for. It's a brilliant book to get started with. I normally sing my hello song and dive right into this book, because the main character walks down a busy NYC street and greets her diverse neighbors in their native language. The caregivers always enjoy shouting their responses and encourage the kids to echo the greetings. The art is cute, too! When reading aloud, I do slightly alter the dialogue in the park scene with her friends because it feels a bit forced/dated. But no one notices and the story keeps flowing.

Am I saying these correctly?
This book is super sweet. I just wish the pronunciations were on the pages themselves instead of in the back of the book.

" and "I Love You" in other languages
Hola!- I've always wanted to learn to say "Hello," "Good-bye," and "I Love You" in other languages. My LO was born 12-3-17 and I knew reading to her would be a priority. I read about this book on a Popsugar article about diverse children's books and quickly ordered on Amazon. I love it. The character is sweet, the art is inspiring to my LOs development creativity, and I love the learning aspect of it all. It's a quick fun read with a great page on how to pronounce everything. Def recommend and keep it forever and pass it on! Ciao!

Simple book with inclusive message.
This is s beautiful book. The young girl walks through the neighborhood saying hello to everyone in various languages. At the end, she meets up with grandma and goes for ice cream.A good purchase.

Well illustrated but heavy on stereotypes
This book certainly heavily stereotypes people from around the world by dress, diet, occupation, number of children - that being said, I enjoyed this book and that it teaches so many ways to say hello, and represents several cultures from around the world living together in one neighbourhood side-by-side, and all saying hello. So the stereotyping seems appropriate to tell this story. The illustration is beautiful and I will read it to my toddler, but certainly with a little ambivalence. If youβre comfortable with that, I would recommend it too.

The idea is nice
This book was recommended as part of a list of diverse books for children which is how I came to purchase it.The idea is nice, but the characters are illustrated in a very stereotyped way which was a bit disappointing. There is a page at the back to help with pronunciation which is handy. Not sure that I would necessarily recommend this book to my friends.
