Q: how long will it continuously record for a 1TB hard drive?

I stuck in a 1tb hard drive and I've got three of the four cameras set up (keeping one as a spare as I don't have anywhere to put it) and after two weeks of 24/7 recording on 3 cameras t's just over half full. This is using the default settings, so it may be able to record at lower quality, I guess, to squeeze in more. It seems to have options to just record during certain hours or when there is motion, etc. which should mean you can squeeze a lot more on it, although I've not explored those options. I suspect that busier scenes with lots of movement (ie. wind blowing bushes and trees in the garden) might take more space but I've not actually had the need to check.

Q: How do you supply power to the cameras?

Cameras come with transformers that plug in to 13amp socket.. Either mount cameras near a 240v power source or run a new supply using permanent wiring or extension lead.. Depends how you want finished job to look.. The picture signal to the control box is wireless and and doesn't travel far especially through walls etc.

Q: Do i need a hard drive for it to work?

Dear customer, Thank you for your question. The system is not included a hard drive,if you need record the video, you have to get a hard drive. It request 3.5" SATA port hard drive, it can support the capacity 500GB/1TB/2TB/3TB,Max 4TB. You can select the Brand: Seagate, western digital, Hitachi, samsung, Toshiba. And it can't work with an external or USB hard drive/ SD card. Have a good day,

Q: Where is good to put the base unit, how noisy is it and would it get too hot if put in a cupboard ?

The unit isn't noisy, just aware of a hum and it doesn't get hot. I put ours in the hallway at the side of the router on a table with a shelf, just ordered a small cupboard so it will go in there later and I am sure it won't be a problem.
