Not Up to Braking Standards
I've been working on and riding mountain bikes for the past 25 years. I've used and worked on both cheap and expensive cantilever brakes, V-brakes, mechanical disc brakes and hydraulic brakes. I thought these were great at first but they proved their value only after a short time. As you can see in the photos, the items are loose in the box and can get damaged during shipment. The weak point of operation is the cable housing they provide. New cables will stretch and so they need to be adjusted after some riding but the housings on these are the cheap old-school kind that use spiraled steel. It can act like a spring and has a lot of flex making the brakes/calipers appear mushier than they really are. The front one has a shorter length so it's not as noticeable but you can definitely see it with the rear. The cable length was barely long enough on mine. Made it work but could have used a couple more inches. I changed the housing and these brakes worked fine at first but still felt mushy in comparison to BB5s or BB7s.The caliper brake armament has some play to it. Might be the reason for the soft braking as well. These brakes are only adjustable on the fixed pad side and not the armament side which conflicts with the description and answers to questions. Still not what I consider a negative since I have only had to adjust the armament side of my BB7s very rarely in the past decade of owning them.I weighed the components and the brake caliper itself is 20g more than my Avid BB7. Not too bad considering the price but they just aren't built well. I weighed one brake system, including levers and caliper, against one of my Shimano Deore Hydraulics I had laying around, and this set is 30g lighter.Typical mechanical brake set up, so fairly straight forward.I went ahead and ordered with the levers to check them out and they're cheap as expected. One of mine came with a the cable adjustment screw flared on the end. Almost made it difficult to keep the cable housing in. Definitely didn't sit level with the lever though. Not sure if manufactured that way or damaged during shipment.Paint looks good at first but scratches easily.Downfall was when I went to adjust the brake pads after only a couple of rides. The adjuster locked up and would not budge. Wound up stripping out the tool insert in trying to get it to move. I had only done rides on the streets to test them out and not even in dirt. Pathetic. After the damaged parts, and then the pad adjuster becoming inoperable, it was time to stop messing with this junk.

Great buy for a simple upgrade!
Great upgrade for a decent price. I mounted these on a Specialized Hotrock 20 mountain bike for my kid. The bike came with V Brakes but had the mounts on the frame and fork to support Disc. I had to order a wheelset with Disc hubs to complete it. I have a feeling I will be buying a new back tire for the bike as it stops so good the wheel can be locked up to skid! I won't worry about wet rims being a problem anymore either!Mechanical brakes can be difficult to tune and they need to be broken in as well, then re-adjusted. Plenty of videos online to refine your skills!

Product unsatisfactory, but prompt support and full refund from supplier
Installation was straight forward. Installed on a Rover recumbent trike to replace Alhonga disc brake. After repeated email from supplier directing me to reinstall, supplying a PDF Manual which had an obvious error in panel 8 of the document, a link to a video to demonstrate proper setup (that would not open), IGive up. Disassembled the unit and detected a piece of tramp debris in assembly that appeared to be preventing the proper seating of the inside ramp against the caliper body. Reassembled and the caliper now works but I will not reuse on my trike. Perhaps OK for very cheap cycle short term replacement.Quick response from seller, but did not solve problem. Purchased better quality set from quality manufacturer.Increased rating to three stars because AfterPartz promised a full refund on purchase. This reflects my positive experience with the supplier

If pull too hard - I might fly over the handle bars.
I just installed and tested these; 100% better then the old ones that I just purchased 1 month ago. I guess they are not all the same. These get the job done! The only issue for me is to remember not to pull too hard - I might fly over the handle bars. Seriously; My wife's bike has Shimano's so of course they are great. You just pull 1/4 inch and you full stop on a dime. So a month ago I order a kit and the lever pull is mushy, they don't grab - sucks. Now get this, I used the same parts (Cables and mounts) for the new AFTERPARTZ up grade, I only changed out the levers and calipers, and no mushy, quick stop - just like the Shimano's .

Buy new pads ASAP
Construction of the brake caliper is decent. The levers feel nice as well. What scared me was the brake pads themselves are dangerously ineffective. If you attempt to brake any harder than moderate or maintain brakes for any amount of time (downhill), they break down and fail. After using the pads for about 2 weeks, I ate all the way through the pad material. where this is scary is the brakes are not hydraulic so when you lose pad material that fast, the levers become more and more loose til pulling the lever all the way does nothing until you re-adjust the system.

Very poor quality
I got these to replace the Tektro Iox cable disk brakes. They are almost a copy of the IOX caliper. After installation they worked at first, then I took the bike in for a complete tuneup at a bike shop. The brakes worked for one time then would not brake, the shop readjusted and they worked for a couple of times but when I got home they did not work. The cable arm is a very loose fit and wobbles to the side when the brakes are applied. I can not return the package because I did use the cable and the hand brake lever but I am very disappointed in the quality of the caliper.

Awesome
They work like a champ. Close like a vise. I had to use the mount that was on my last caliper for the rear, but that is not bringing marks down for me. I will order for another bike. Love them for the price.

I struggled to remove/install new brake pads
The actual brakes and pads are not that bad and even the rotors seemed nice. However...1. The paint was a little flaky.2. The rear brake was crooked/ unaligned.3. It is more than reasonably difficult to put in new brake pads.I could have easily ignored the paint. And the rear brake wasn't significantly unaligned to affect braking much. BUT putting in new pads was ridiculous. Otherwise, this would have been a 4 or 5 star product for the price.

I really like these brakes!
The shipping was fast, the service was courteous and the product does not disappoint!Installation was flawless with no hiccups. As long you know what you are doing, there should not be any problems. The brakes are working as intended are fairly light and everything needed was included. If I ever need to do an upgrade to disc brakes, I will definitely buy these again.Simplicity at its best.
