buona idea

Love it!
I just love these, my daughter is almost 2.5 years old and she really like them. It says 6+ on it but if you research about teaching cursive before print you can find great info on the importance of cursive and this is a great way to introduce.

They love the magnetic aspect and their interest is held for ...
I purchased these (both the upper and lower case cursive hand writing alphabet ones) for my children (5 1/2, 8 and 10 year olds) and for my daycare (2 1/2-5 year olds). They love the magnetic aspect and their interest is held for quite some time (they’ll practice on these for anywhere from a 1/2 hour to an hour just for fun)! My only critique is that the directional numbers and arrows could be more detailed on these, but even then, they are highly effective in encouraging and establishing pre-cursive writing skills, basic fine motor skills and refining existing writing skills, at each stage of development for the age groups I’ve mentioned above. I wish I’d had these when I was overseeing the preschool and lower school curriculum for two private schools for five years prior to starting my daycare/homeschool co-op. I’ve had another set (upper and lower case alphabet handwriting ones) for a number of years (before making this purchase as well) they are a favorite amongst the children I care for and they still look practically new. My youngest has been writing (handwriting) all the letters of the alphabet since she was 3 1/2, greatly due to these products, in conjunction with handwriting work sheets and “write and wipe” products, after her introduction to handwriting using these products (the same goes for the children in my care). She’s already writing cursive letters of her own volition after using these cursive ones for only a few days, with no other cursive writing practice sources. I highly recommend these!

Excellent practice for young students
This is a great teaching tool and I am happy with my purchase. The magnetic stylus is not attached bu strong (which I like) and it snaps securely into the tablet. The advantage to using this over a plain old worksheet is that it can be reused again and again. This is a great item to keep in the car during carpool or weekend roadtrips.

Mixed feeling, overall good.
Mixed feeling. This is a great tactile experience for children who are discover or reinforcing writing cursive; however, sometimes the magnet balls don't come up. And if like me your child lost the pen (which is not connected...so that it probably doesn't interfere with the wrote), you might order a replacement pen, which is not made for this board in particular and it not as efficient. The replacement pen is 3$, and shipping to the U.S. is $2. My envelop said postage cost them 36 cents...just a detail.

As an OT I like that children become intrinsically motivated to engage in this handwriting activity over and over again while reinforcing correct grip on stylus and strengthening fingers. Be sure and promote mindfulness while they are pushing down on the magnetic balls so not to hyperextend their DIP/end joints in fingers.

Limited education
I saw this in a magazine (and since advertisement is meant to sell a product) and I was sold. It bored my kids within minutes. I wish it hadn't. The kids are more interested in the magnetic capabilities then the learning. It would be cheaper and just as effective to buy the dry erase books where you trace the letters and merge to eventually writing the letters yourself on lined paper. The lines show you dimensions. I really hoped this would be a wonderful addition to my daycare but really is just a costly gimic. My apologies to the creators of what appeared to have real potential.

More novel than educational
I have a very reluctant writer in an AMI Montessori school, where they learn to write lower-case cursive letters first. With so few products out there for cursive these days, I had to try this one when I saw it. My son likes it well enough. I think he likes the tactile nature of a board like this where the ball barrings jump up to meet the magnet in the stylus, but it's really not the best tool to help him with his writing. Because the magnet in the pen/stylus is pretty strong, it can pull up the ball barrings in other parts of the letter even when he has not properly traced over it, but simply put his pen near it. He gets preoccupied with "resetting" the board by pushing down each ball barring all the time. It's a novelty and a game, but not real aid to learning to write. A chalk board or paper and pencil are still better practice for him.

A clever idea but not really helpful for learning cursive
My daughter who is learning cursive in third grade, saw this in a toy store and asked for it for Christmas. The beads pop up as you "write" the letters with the magnetic pencil which is fun (for a while) but more of a novel idea than a tool to help learn cursive. I knew this when I bought it but thought it couldn't hurt. One of the magnetic beads stopped popping up after only a couple of weeks and my daughter has already lost interest.

Broke after a few weeks!
This is a great idea for a product, and we loved it while it was working, but ours broke after only a few weeks. We used it carefully (we were not rough on it), but now when my children try to bring the beads up, many of them fall back down on their own. I'm very disappointed with the quality. I would not recommend.

Self evident. Good to use in car travel. Never ceases to be fun, it would appear.
Effective and attractive even to our 4 year old grand-daughter.
