Easy for the novice making ski repairs
After watching a few different vedios on using the Petex repair kit l made a few basic repairs and was happy with the results. I wore gloves for protection and my workmate bench to hold the skis. Results were great

Works great and easy to do.
Got this to do some repair work on my 30 something year old xc skis. Worked great and so easy to do. I had some pretty bad gouges and scraps from skiing on frozen gravel. Spent a bit of time preping the bases by removing the wax base and cleaning up the edges of the gouges. I also used my waxing iron to preheat the bases. Lit the candle and moved slowly and carefully. Keep the candle close to your work and hold it at an angle to keep the carbon to a minimum. After cooling down the included scraper mad quick work of leveling out the area. A couple quick passes with the scotch brite pads and a finally buff with the white pad and I was ready for a base wax. I have only been out once since the repair (figures all the snow melted) but the repair held perfectly. I used about a third of a candle to repair about 4 ft. of scratches of at least a fingernail width wide. So much cheaper than a new pair of skis.

Great formula that is durable and blends well
First a special thank you to Dr. D at RaceWax for excellent service as always. RaceWax has done a great job formulating their P-Tex and it "camoflages" beautifully with the existing base. When properly scraped with the provided metal scraper and series of pads I found it difficult to find the original gouge after waxing and brushing. A few tips to ensure success: leave small scratches alone, unless you are a racer you only need to repair the deep ones. Be sure that the area to be repaired is clean and dry, hold the candle as close to the base as possible without extinguishing the candle or burning your base, allow the P-Tex to fully cool before scraping, when scraping start in the middle and move outwards, scrape well enough so that the drops are no longer visible, and make use of the pads provided to blend into the existing grain pattern. If you can still see the drops of P-Tex around the gouge it means you have not scraped enough. Finally, don't panic if you can still see a small trace of your repair before waxing, if you use the proper waxing method (hot iron with a good base prep and top layer wax) this should nearly vanish after brushing.

Great kit
Great value for the money I bought a used board with several deep gouges in the base probably more than 20" and I used less than half of a stick. The scraper and scratch pads included make it really easy to clean up the base after you fill in the holes. Would recommend

Straight forward product, perfect for the use
I enjoyed using the ptex. Found out that this was super easy to use and worked great for some repairs on my downhill snow gear. It worked so well, all my friends asked me to repair issues on their gear. If I ever need to I would buy this kit again.

Perfect for DIY ski repair!!
This is a decent repair kit. I just patched up a few spots on my backcountry skis and it worked really well. The candles are a lot longer and larger than I expected. 7-3/4” long each. So you are getting quite a bit of P-Tex. The metal scraper works very well. It’s nice and sharp and also not flimsy. So it works well for scraping off excess P-Tex as well as excess wax. It comes with enough P-Tex to last the average skier for many years.

Save the $$$ and fix your own core shots
We will pick up used skis and boards in the valley to save some money, as a lot of people upgrade after a couple of years, but they often are dinged up a bit. I bought this kit to fix core shots and have been very happy with it, as I can match most bottoms with the black and white. The brillo pads are perfect for getting that smooth look and the scraper works like a charm. Just a couple minutes and our old/new skis look perfect. Works great for snowboards too!

I did a pretty big core shot on day one of last season ...
I did a pretty big core shot on day one of last season to my snowboard. I watched some YouTube videos on doing Ptex repairs. This kit included everything needed to get it fixed. The fix lasted 4-5 days on the hill, but eventually most of the material came out. It would be nice if the kit came with some of the larger square or rectangle pieces that are inserted for bigger repairs. Other than that, no complaints.

Great kit for someone to learn to service skis and boards. Everything you need!
Great kit for salvaging my poor snowboard after I punched holes and scrapes into it during a visit to Meribel. Good choice of grades for the sanding pads, and I was able to get rid of most of the light scratches without ptexing it. ALWAYS SAND DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE BOARD!So, sand down the whole thing if your board is bad, and then light a ptex candle. If you're using clear then it helps to let it burn for a few moments and then wipe it on a plate to get the black soot off the end, otherwise you get black on your board. Drip it into the holes and let it set. Then get the metal scraper and, lengthways, scrape all the excess off. Get the finest sand pad and go lengthways down the board, gently, to put the grooves back in the base. These are important to displace water and stop the board sticking to the snow. Finally, wax as normal and buff. Your board should be good as new! I'll enclose a before and after photo of an example of the repair job after Meribel. Hope this helps!

Decent little kit
I had some pretty nasty damage to the underside of my board, and this kit allowed me to fix it. The process os fairly straightforward. Prepare and clean the surface, melt the wax sticks onto the damaged area, then scrape back excess wax so that it is level with the rest of the top layer. The only issue i has was the wax burned while it was melting, resulting in horrible back/brown bits of wax on the board. So it wasnt entirely clear to see the design underneath. However, you'll only notice it close up and from a distance it wont be seen.
