Bolts short
Used for carrying kayaks on roof rack. I had to struggle to get the bolts to connect as they are short. Would have been 5 stars otherwise

Good - but will probably eventually rust through
I've had these uprights in the past. They are made of soft steel with a paint covering. They are good. Why three stars - well I've had to replace them (at least once) ... They do eventually corrode where the upright attaches to the bolt clamp. My last one nearly snapped off completely before I noticed. Obviously if this happened on a fast road it could be a disaster... I have tried looking for something in aluminum or SS but haven't found anything....

Good bars
This is my second set of rook rack upright bars (dont ask lets just say some garages should look at the roof before they lift your car). They are ideal if you want to tie on two open canoes (on their sides) or even four kayaks (or a mixture of the canoes and kayaks). I know some people have said the straps are too short, I already have a fair selection of straps which are a bit longer, but the straps provided have been used to tie a canoe down on its side and also for a single kayak, so maybe think of them as a bonus on top of the bars.

roof rack upright bars - aka - small Dr Frankenstein lightening conductors
They will fit the modern oval rails but be aware that they are really designed for the square section ones (flat plate clamp) so you do get some minimal movement, though they are still well anchored and would work as expected

solid bars but best for square rails
very solid bars but you might need longer bolts to fit over oval bars

Perfect. Great quality. Love them. Easy to on/off.
Excellent uprights. Love these full height bars. Well made. Lovely metal work and finishing. They cope with heavy weight open canoes just fine.

Awkward to fit. Big heavy metal nuts so watch your paintwork
Awkward to fit and remove. Make sure you lay something over the car roof before attempting to secure them to the food rack. Once fitted very sturdy but for something that is used briefly then removed itβs a lot of effort
