Boozy milkshakes? Highly recommended
Bought this as a present for a friend, they absolutely loved it and insisted we began making boozy cocktails that evening! There are a lot to pick from so you'll definitely be able to find one you'll love. The recipes come with easy to follow steps and trust me, that all taste great.

Bought as a gift, recipient loves it, the best part is all the sauces and particular ingredients that would normally leave you hunting food stores for the right product all have their own recipes listed in the back! Perfect!

Boozy Shakes - a great idea in theory...
'Boozy Shakes' - what's not to like!Got the book, looked up the drinks that require vodka and straight away my heart sank. The first two shakes I looked at required 'vanilla vodka'. The Aztec Margharita shake required 'chilli / hot pepper vodka'. So much for plain old vodka vodka...I read the Hazelnut Martini instructions and there's mention at one stage of hot custard despite the fact that there's no mention of custard at all in the ingredients! The majority of drinks in the book require a variety of sauces to be mixed in and instructions on how to make them are given. This leads me to my main observation and criticism, that this is not simply a recipe book but more of a cookery book with all the preparation and faffing about that I associate with cookery books. Personally it's all too much like hard work. I think I'll stick to throwing some ice cream and whatever treats I have to hand into a blender with some booze and stick to that. Two stars - one simply for the admirable notion of boozy shakes and one for the rather lovely photography which almost made me want to put the time and effort in. Almost.I bought this book for next to nothing in a charity shop so there was not much of a financial hit buying it but it'll be going straight back to a charity shop very soon I'm afraid.

Boozy Cool Fun
While small, only 64 pages, this book is filled with some great ideas. The perfect starting point for making your own boozy shakes. There are basic recipes including vanilla ice cream, strawberry sorbet, and a variety of sauces you'll need to make the shakes. The Whiskey Butterscotch sauce is a standout for me.Every recipe is beautifully photographed, the measurements are in both imperial and metric. I've had a lot of fun with this in just a week. There aren't a lot of recipes but they all provide a great framework to use a a jumping point for making your own creations.I think it's a good value for the price, the recipes have all come out the way they were supposed to and the instructions are well written and easy to follow. This would be a the perfect add on gift if you are buying someone a blender for a shower or house warming gift.

Too Artisan and Hoity Toity for Me, but a Good Start
I agree with Andrea, the previous reviewer. This is a good *starting point* to make your own boozy milkshakes, but some of the stuff the author suggests doing is just WAY too complicated. Make my own vanilla ice cream? I think not. Last time I checked, I could buy a pretty decent gallon down at the supermarket for a fraction of the cost and effort. That said, as I was reviewing the recipes with my significant other, I started getting ideas for how we could formulate our own boozy milkshakes, and make them work for our tastes. If you buy this book, skip all the silliness about making your own ice cream - buy it at the store, for heaven's sake. While you're at it, skip out on most of the handmade sauces and compotes, and just use Torani(tm) or some similar brand of flavored syrup for stuff like lime, ginger, raspberry, strawberry, and whatnot. Instead of searching the ends of the earth for exotic flavored ice creams (like ginger), just add the flavored syrup to vanilla ice cream. For some of the fruity flavors, you might be better off using sorbet, instead.Try it. I do appreciate the author's offering these inspirations, but don't feel obliged to follow them to the letter. Make boozy milkshakes with stuff you already have, if at all possible.
