Doesn't taste like chocolate
We ordered this chocolate syrup because it was organic and had good reviews. We're not sure if something is wrong with this one or not (this is the first time trying it), but it has a horrible taste that is more like coffee than chocolate. The expiration date was good though - over a year and a half since the date of purchase, so no issue there. Unfortunately, we are going to have to throw this one out and not be purchasing again.

This chocolate flavored syrup does not taste like chocolate at all!
Our household eats a lot of ice cream on a daily basis. We usually by Hershey's Simply Chocolate Syrup, but we can't always find it in stock in our area. When the big box store was out of it, I decided to add Santa Cruz Organic Chocolate Syrup to our Amazon order because it was organic. The idea of an organic chocolate syrup in my head sounded like a great idea. I thought it would be made with organic ingredients, have fewer ingredients than the big brands, and hopefully taste as good or better than the big brands. Boy did I have the wrong idea! This chocolate syrup does not have a chocolate taste to it at all. There was a strong cocoa butter taste, very oily, and very unpleasant. The taste did not resemble chocolate at all. I am pretty picky about chocolate, so I had my significant other try it (he'll eat anything), he said it didn't taste like chocolate. This chocolate syrup is supposed to be microwaveable in it's original bottle. I don't recommend this at all. Despite following the heating instructions and microwaving the bottle for 30 seconds, the bottom of the bottle started to melt onto the turntable in our microwave.Besides the melting bottle, the chocolate syrup became separated in the microwave, and it became a weird texture that was watery in some places and gritty in other places. Because of this we could not use the chocolate syrup while it was hot.Another thing that we wondered about was the safety of putting the chocolate syrup back in the fridge once it had separated in the microwave. I'm not sure warming a product in it's original container and then putting it back in the fridge is a good idea, or even a safe idea when it comes to liquids. We ended up throwing the chocolate syrup away after it became separated as that is one of the classic signs that chocolate syrup has gone bad. Whether or not the chocolate syrup was truly bad at that point, we will never know. It tasted really bad, I know that much for certain, definitely not like chocolate syrup.Ingredient List: Organic Invert Sugar; Organic Cocoa; Water; Organic Vanilla Extract; Salt; and Xanthan Gum. This chocolate syrup is gluten free.Heating instructions: Remove cap and foil seal. Replace cap, open flip top. Heat on high for 30 seconds. Let stand one minute before serving. Do not shake.Nutritional Information: Serving size 2 tablespoons. Servings per bottle 11. Calories 110. Total Fat 0 grams. Sodium 15 milligrams. Total Carbohydrates 26 grams. Fiber 2 grams. Sugars 24 grams. Protein 1 gram. Calcium 2%. Iron 8%.At the end of the day, this chocolate syrup was really disappointing. It did not taste like chocolate, it separated in the microwave, and it had a really oily consistency that was unpleasant to it. We won't be buying this brand again.

Not a success here.
Still baffled on what happened here. Was excited to find mint chocolate syrup AND at a then-very reasonable price ( under four dollars - June 2020) - especially with organic ingredients. I also ordered a bottle as a gift for Amazon to ship to my sister as we both love chocolate mint anything. My bottle’s syrup didn’t have much of any flavor to it by itself or on good vanilla ice cream. Odd. Within two days there was zero mint flavor. I kept it another day then felt led to throw it away just to move on. A couple of weeks later my sister asked me what I thought of the chocolate mint syrup, and I told her my experience. She said she tried it, and said it tasted like prunes. No chocolate notes, no mint essence. Just prunes. She poured some into a ramekin and added some Watkins peppermint flavoring and that made the sauce ok / bearable for her- making the chocolate flavor come up in the effort. Not sure what went haywire here but I did remove the sauce from my monthly Subscribe and Save delivery plans.

Fabulous, rich tasting topper
Better than all other chocolate suaces/syrups. I did an ice cream taste test with Hershey's, Ghirardelli's, and this, Santa Cruz. This beat the others! LOVE IT!!

Love organic—this product falls short of quality
It’s always hard to write a good review. This product requires you to microwave it and then it’s either too hot and watery or it’s too thick to pour. Getting it just right is very difficult. As far the taste goes, I found it be chemically.

Santa Cruz Organic Chocolate Syrup
My local grocery used to carry Santa Cruz chocolate syrup, but it has disappeared. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon at about the same price. It's the ONLY chocolate syrup that I will buy! The flavor, the consistency and the fact that it's organic/non GMO are a win-win.

We Love This Chocolate Syrup!!
My family loves chocolate in any form, and chocolate milk is a must have. I try and buy organic when possible and first found this 4-5 years ago in Whole Foods. We can't get it there anymore, but Amazon and several other stores do offer it. It tastes very good and so give it a try!
