Raumfeld Wireless Streaming Sounddeck - White

Let me first say that I really want to like this product. It comes from my hometown Berlin and the company has a great reputation in Germany for making excellent speakers. Unfortunately, I can't make this system work and the customer support is non-existent (the "support" phone number is just a recording directing you to send an email; emails have not been answered so far).The problem seems to be that the WiFi built into the speakers is subpar, which is surprising for a supposedly multiroom wireless system. I could not make the App find the system to run the setup. After many tries, I finally figured out that the Google Chromecast dongle on my TV seems to interfere. Removing Chromecast allows me now to identify the sounddeck in the App most of the times. Keep in mind that I have a new multiband wireless router that connects w/o problems to many devices (computers, phones, tablets, printer ...). If the sounddeck is identified (often but not always) I still can't make it work since the App complains about some incompatible router settings (MAC filter: is off as requested, DHCP: in on as requested ...). This is now going so deep into wireless protocols that I am getting over my head and, of course, w/o any help from "customer support". I will check a few German websites to see if I find a solution, otherwise the unit goes back to Amazon this week. If I ever find a solution, I will update this review, otherwise I will get a Sonos soundbase.Update:I never got contacted by the US customer support, but called the help line in Germany. They were helpful and I eventually got the system to work (I can't say what eventually did it, after reconfiguring and rebooting the router, the sounddeck, the Android tablet ...). Once it works, it is a really nice piece of equipment with good sound and the remote is really handy. Can I recommend it? Try it and if it works out of the box you will be happy. If it doesn't, don't bother with trying to get help and send it back

The sonic tone of this unit is not quite right. The sound actually sounds "muffled". Voices are not clear unless the volume is turned up. The bass is quite nice but it would be much better if the highs were "clear". It does have multi-room function which I wanted to test but giving the lackluster sound of the sounddeck we are not likely to purchase the Stereo Cubes they offer. Thought this might be a better option than a SONOS system and based on this experience I think not. Returning this unit tomorrow.

JUST FREAKING AWESOME!! **Only problem has been having remote synched 100% of time. Still plays music & TV but fine tuning bass, treble & mid is a bit harder. ( 1 star off )**Sound quality and build of this Raumfeld Soundeck are both fantastic!** Has 6 quality speakers 4 in front, 1 on each side & 2 great down firing Sub Woofers & 280 watt amplifier built right in.**It's also great to have the TV sit directly on top...so the program/concert, seems to be coming from the TV, and not the FIREPLACE or COUCH!! That makes a huge difference, for enjoying your Movie Etc. It looks as though its part of the TV itself.Personally I HATE the TV above fireplace to begin with. Then to hear the couch talking or singing, well that sucks & ruins the entire experience for me! **Price is a little steep...but you only need this unit and nothing else going forward. ( although can build & add to this unit, with mind bending sound from Raumfeld's Speaker line.)**Just have your $$ read!! The old saying...you get what you pay for couldn't is totally true with ALL Raumfeld products.**Another very important factor before buying was the ability to configure directly to our existing Amp. Sub Woof & Speakers so that they didn't have to put away.** When both are turned and on same setting and cranked.....BUCKLE UP FOLKS! WOW! I love this thing, more than my w--e of 38 yrs!(She can't spell to good..lol)**It's hard wired through TV with HDMI only, which allows us to use our existing Receiver & Speakers as well. Hard wired instead of Blutooth makes a world of difference with anything Hi-Fi... . which in my humble opinion creates a superior sound and quality of that reproduction!**Many built in music apps supported for both Android & Other systems.**Lastly, connecting couldn't be any easier. Simply plug it in & hook HDMI to TV & start fine tuning for your preferences. ENJOY IT!! You will not be sorry.From 2 Very Happy Customers in Upstate NY..With 1 not a good spelling bee contestant.
