Great Sound.. the app is a challenge!
Great speaker system - in terms of quality of sound. Certainly, one of best multi-room wireless speaker systems I've used.I do 'hope' they figure out a way to improve the app to be more robust, less buggy, generic and inclusive. For example - people who use apple music or, stream from amazon these speakers are almost useless. I'd expect more at this price point...

"Great Technology"
I was looking to buy a couple speakers for my home office. After a recommendation from a friend and not wanting to have a receiver anymore , I decided to purchase the Raumfeld stereo cubes ** I was thoroughly impressed **The sound of the speakers were incredible.I taking me a little time to get used to the app but they sound great. Actually purchased several other Raumfeld speakers . Now the whole house sounds like a concert . All streaming from my cell. Tecnology is great.

Streaming music perfection
This is my second set of Raumfeld speakers, but I'm still astounded by the immaculate packaging, wonderful fit and finish of the speakers, and absolutely amazing sound. While my Raumfeld Soundbar left me wanting a little in regards to home theater, it knocked it out of the park with music quality. Even with those lofty expectations, these exceeded what I expected out of a set of bookshelf speakers. These would work great in an office or a bedroom, which is where they call home in our house. Setup was relatively straight forward, though the included manual was once again lacking. I get the European less is more approach, but almost nothing is well almost nothing! Anyway, one speaker does all the heavy lifting with the internal amp and various inputs, while the other gets to just focus on making beautiful music.Everything revolves around the app. At first I had some challenges with the app, but between subtle tweaks in the app and this old dog learning new tricks, it's getting there. I'd still say the app (ease of navigation) is the second biggest opportunity (the vague manual gets top honors). That being said, you can do everything (you kinda need to) via the app, setup is relatively painless, and adding the app to another device is a breeze (it'll be set up and the two app instances get along nicely). Likewise adding another room (which I did with this set) is a breeze. Old school optical keeps the even older school analog RCA jacks company, though you may be just as likely to use wired or wireless internet to enjoy sound. I opted for the wired, though I used wireless with our Raumfeld sound bar for a month playing loads of lossless music with nary a hiccup. Spotify works very well with these speakers, and between that and playing off of our NAS (SMB share), everything works rather well. UPNP sources have been a bit problematic thus far (can't say I've gotten much out of playing these sources on other devices, so hard to say where the issue lies).Audio quality is amazing. It's definitely a well conceived overall sonic experience (drivers, enclosure, amp, dsp, etc...), and you're left wondering how you lived without these! I'd say the overall balance is neutral rather than being overly boomy. Of course you can play with the EQ to get that if you like. No matter how I try to adjust things, you're greeted with a warm and rich sound with clear high notes. The only real challenge sound wise is that these run out of gas and lose quality when pushed. I wouldn't say this happens at normal volumes, but not much further can lead to issues. Given that these are one of the more compact Raumfeld options (they have larger more powerful models), I'm not to inclined to view that as an issue, and again, it fills the room with great sound at normal levels. As noted this isn't my first Raumfeld setup, but I was blown away nonetheless. I think music is where Raumfeld excels, and while sound bars have to play a few roles, this model can focus on music, and it does a great job. The multiroom abilities shine and overall, I cannot find any reason not to wholeheartedly recommend these to music lovers. The included cable to connect the two speakers was a bit short for my needs, so I picked up Monoprice 109450 15-Feet Premier Series 1/4-Inch Male Right Angle to Male Right Angle 16AWG Cable to connect the two. It works great. Likewise i also used a C2G / Cables To Go 03152 18 AWG Universal Right Angle Power Cord, Black (6 feet/1.82 Meters) to allow the main speaker to be closer to the wall (the included power cable while attractive is bulky and straight).

Not a solid home run
These speakers looked like just what I needed. I’ll describe that scenario and see how they worked out and in the process reveal the overall upsides and downsides of the product.I was looking for a minimalistic design speaker set (stereo) to flank a modern all-white fireplace with a flush floor level hearth. The available space on either side of the fireplace opening is 12” per side. These speakers are an 8” cube, which fit perfectly leaving a well-balanced look on either side. The white/aluminum finish was also a perfect complement to the all-white fireplace. Very chic. Then I found that each speaker does not operate 100% independently. The reality is that one speaker is a “master” and the other is a “slave” which much be connected to the master using the included cable. That completely defeats the concept that they are “wireless” speakers and there simply is no way to interconnect them without the unattractive wire between them showing. Please understand that when I say “wireless” I get that they need to be plugged in to an AC power source, which I have on either side of the fireplace. But “wireless” in the sense that they don’t require being connected to the speaker terminals of a receiver or amplifier because they are streaming speakers. Having to wire one speaker to the other doesn’t qualify as wireless.True, my intended installation is a bit unique, but then I considered using them on bookshelves in another room. The two bookshelves are not connected to each other and I ran in to the same problem … I had to run a wire across the wall from one bookshelf to another to connect the speakers together. The issue is that there is a doorway between where I wanted to use the two speakers, which I would have to string the interconnect wire across.I understand what Raumfeld is trying to do with these. Their main competitors like Sonos, Heos, Polk and others are promoting the use of a single speaker, sometimes with true stereo sound and sometimes not. I own all three brands and even another brand of wireless streaming speaker. Of the popular brands most of them tend to be a little more utilitarian looking than the design of the Raumfelds, which are really beautiful. But on the other hand if you buy two of the speakers from the other brands you don’t have to use a wire to connect them together … each has everything it needs built in to one speakers. The 800lb elephant in the room question is going to be “are the Raumfelds worth $700 in terms of sound quality?” Well, how a speaker sounds is up to each individual person but I’ll have to say that they sound really good, but they don’t sound spectacular. Not $700 spectacular. To be fair, if you wanted to use two matching speakers from the other brands you would pay as much or more so I won’t say that the Raumfelds are overpriced. I will say that my opinion is that you’re paying more for aesthetics than audiophile excellence, which is a completely personal choice and decision. Since you have to interconnect the speakers anyway I think a better choice would be to buy two awesome (and beautiful) speakers from any brand of your choosing and then buy a separate network audio receiver component (from Raumfeld, Sonos, Heos or any of the several brands) to achieve the benefits of wireless streaming audio. That way you get beauty and versatility.Final thought – the seller makes a big point of the “German Engineering” but doesn’t dwell much on the reality that these speakers are made in China. Neither point is a big deal to me but it is something you should be aware of. The bottom line for me is that the field of choices for wireless streaming audio products is suddenly growing larger and Raumfeld has some catching up to do before they can compete with the more established brands like Sonos. For me there are too many limitations that aren’t offset by any compelling reasons to choose Raumfelds other than they look great and sound respectably good. That certainly makes them better than average but not a solid home run.
