Good combination of connections.
I bought this hub because it offered a combination of connections that suit my needs. I wanted to be able to read SD cards from my camera and be able to connect an outboard hard drive or memory stick.I matches the color of my MacBook and connects solidly. The performance seems to be good. There are a few caveats. I bought the hub along with an Urban Armor case. They are shown together on an Amazon page as "frequently bought together." The may be bought together, but they cannot be USED together because the thickness of the case prevents the hub from plugging in to the computer. Not Satechi's fault. In fact, the fit without the case would not be good if the connector was a little longer.I also have an Apple adaptor the provides a charging port an HDMI port and one USB 3 port. Not as versatile as the Satechi. I guess I'll be taking the case on and off a lot.I have read that a reviewer had an SD card damaged by the hub. It is important to realize that the card is inserted with the label down. The picture of the hub shows two cards with the labels up. This misleading as you have to flip the cards over to insert them. While I did not damage my card on the first attempt, I can see how it might happen. This hub offers a combination of connections that Apple does not and I like its design.

A necessity
A handy little tool for when you have $#!+ to do. As soon as you plug in the Satechi Type-C USB dock; a small, noteable, LED signals that the connection is all-good. From that point you can then connect all the ports needed. Very great builds that go prefectly with the shade of your MacBook. My only advice is that, although pleasantly pleased with how it's flush on the side of your MacBook, the bottom half is not supported by another port, like the top half. So all that weight distribution is on your lightning port. Remember to "eject" the software your accessing from the computers programming before removing from any of the dock's inputs. And when you do pull out the USB do it gently and try to to pull too hard on the bottom half

Too unreliable for professional use.
Bought this to use with the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I'm a video professional, and often times have loads of footage on external hard drives and memory cards. I was very excited at the possibility of being able to use this as an all-in-one solution. However, after only two days of using this, I cannot suggest enough to choose a different product. In the middle of projects, and randomly throughout, I'll receive notifications that the hard drive, or cards have been ejected improperly ejected, which causes me to lose valuable time on projects, and leads to several frustrations. I'll immediately be seeking an alternative solution, which is too bad. Do better Satechi, please, for all of us.

This made my computer actually function like a computer again
GODSEND! This made my computer actually function like a computer again. I have no idea why Apple thought a computer didn't need any ports but I learned the hard way and this product made my life so much easier. It matches the computer color perfectly and all the ports work great.

it matched my Apple MB very nicely. Size/Form-factor - compact
I've just received the product. Did a quick check to make sure that the 2x USB3.0 ports are working, tested the card slots with a SandDisk Ultra Micro SD - 64GB and an SDXC 64GB - both read well. Oh yes, I haven't tested the "C-port" for power - I shall do that later.Having said all that, what do I think?Aesthetically :Color - well, I bought a rose gold, it matched my Apple MB very nicely.Size/Form-factor - compact , I guess it's as small as it can get to include all these slots/portsUsability :Speed is good - well, so-far-so-good. No evident lag, so I'm pleased. Only complain is that it gets hot, and I really only plug in the USB 3.0 thumbdrive, checked that it works, eject, plugged back into another port, worked, ejected. Put in the cards, checked and ejected. But, seriously, it's expected with such devices I guess. Since it gets the job done, I'm not disappointed by the "heat".Comments about packaging :It will be good if the hub comes with a case that could protect it, and by protecting, I meant the C-connector that sticks out - I have this fear that the connector will become lose or possibly break off after some use, if not stored carefully in one's laptop bag.

Find a better product!
Sadly I've held onto this thing for too long, it's junk and now I can't even return it. The SanDisk reader only works half the time. It constantly "ejects" from my computer without even being touched(this happens when cards are in the reader and when anything such as an external drive are plugged into it). Really wishing I would have returned it right away and not just put up with it cause I needed it.

Not compatible with MacBook Pro or Mac Mini.
The plug looks right but does not fit/connect. No good on my Macs.

Don't buy this is you want to plug in a CD drive to a macbook.
I bought this product because I have a macbook which has only one port, and when I plug in my CD drive, it drains the battery, but because it has only one port, I can't charge it at the same time. I wanted to be able to plug in the charge cable and the CD drive together. This doesn't work because the CD drive does not get enough power through the hub and won't work whil plugged in to the hub. In every other respect it does what it says, I can plug memory sticks, SD cards and the charge cable in together and they all work, so if that's what you want to use it for, it will be fine. Just not the CD drive which is specifically why I bought the hub so I was disappointed.

Overheating!
Bought this to use with my 12" MacBook and I'm really disappointed. It's a great adapter but it keeps getting far to hot, to the point I can't touch it. It feels as though it's going to catch fire or break my Mac. I sadly can't recommend this product to anyone!

Not a firm grip, it moves and disconnects
Not very happy with it.. gave it 3 stars as it quite wobbly, moves easily when touched and disconnects the inputs.. would not recommend this model in particular.

Awful
It looks good but it’s an awful product. It disconnects all the time. If your laptop has a case, even the thinnest one, you will be unable to plug this in.

Brillaint at first.....and then.....
When i received this adapter i thought it was great, unfortaunatly when u move ur laptop or even just touch the adpater or the hardware thats connected it disconnects all adapters and hardrives. I can hardly type on the keypad without it disconnecting it. Very fustrating.
