Fantastic pencil. Great feel. Durable. No Eraser?
I am a Flight Engineer. I have to do preflight and post flight inspections, which involve me getting into tough spots frequently. I am normally trying to get the inspections done quickly so I can finish paperwork before the flight. I typically don't have much time or the thought for that matter, to stop and take the pencil and pen out of my pocket. I have broken so many pens and pencils from them being in the pencil pocket of the flight suit. I have sat on these and leaned against various metal surfaces, in which normal mechanical and wooden pencils break. So with normal pencils, I am left with the shattered remains of some pencil, or the day ruining black pen blotch spot where the pen exploded. These beauties were virtually unscathed. The lead is awesome and the fact that I don't have to fumble around in the middle of a flight for 3 microscopic pieces of lead, is enough for me to recommend them. Only thing that kept me from giving a 5 is the lack of an eraser. Now I just have to remember to keep an eraser on me all the time. It's a fair trade off I suppose...

Incredible Value
These are among the best possible value for the sheer quality and quantity you can get. The leads it comes with are excellent, soft and smooth with no grittiness or inconsistency of hardness. The mechanical pencils are controlled lead release, one click gives about 4mm of lead length, the rear end of the pencils comes off and has a lead pointer in them (hole in the back of the depressor is the pointer). Having 4 pencils mean being able to have multiple sharpened points of various lead hardness. The quality of the construction of the pencils themselves is fantastic, the controlled extension of leads is fantastic and the weight and feel of them is smooth overall, the knurled grips work wonderfully for having a secure feel in the hand. Each part fits together tightly and nothing comes loose. I recommend these to anyone who uses pencils often for any kind of writing or drawing.Best value for pencils that I have found. Will be definitely be buying them again.

Great deal.
I’m an artist. I have used mechanical pencils for over 30 years. These do a fine job. They seem sturdy enough and they look just like nice pens. They give you plenty of leads. 4 cases altogether. 1 HB and 3 2B. Why they did it like that I have no idea. Lead is already loaded in the holders. There is a sharpener in top of the pencil. There is a hole on the top that is where the sharpener is. I take off a point because I prefer the sharpener I already have. The problem is the pencil doesn’t fit. The holder is too thick. This is the first lead holder I have bought that doesn’t fit. I prefer my sharpener to the one in the pencil. You also have to remember to dump the lead shavings or they may end up in your case. The case is really nice. 4 lead holders, 4 cases of leads and a case to hold everything. Great deal. My only beef is the sharpener.

Surprisingly high quality for the price
I've been searching for a decent price on 2mm drafting pencil leads for some time for my old Scripto & Berol lead holders. I was very skeptical when I saw this set with 4 dozen leads but after reading the reviews I decided to buy. I was expecting the pencils to be lightweight and insubstantial but I couldn't have been more wrong. The pencils are at least as heavy and sturdy as my dependable aging pencils making them very comfortable to hold and use. At a fraction of the price I like this set better than it's big name competitors. I do hope this company will someday offer the 4H & 6H leads which are great for drafting film.

I definitely recommend this item as it is a great value.
This is either a hit or miss type of item and I have to say that in my opinion it is a HIT. I hesitatingly took off one star for two, not very significant, reasons. 1. The sharpener in the pen cap is very convenient and a good idea but it is not good enough to keep you from wanting a regular sharpener in this kit. It gets the job done but not as good as I would like. They pitch the sharpener as a selling feature so I have to knock it for that reason. 2. This is minor, but the kit came with one pack of HB lead and three of 2B. Two of each would have been better. Now the good, these mechanical pencils are simply wonderful. A well made product. They feel solid but not too heavy. They aren't light plastic like others in the same price range. These are nicely made.I REALLY do want to give this product five stars but the sharpener has me on the edge. I definitely recommend this item as it is a great value.

Great for construction
I am unable to comment on lead quality for drawing as I use these as a pocket pencil for construction. The metal body is durable enough to hold up to daily use in construction though if in back pants pocket will bend if you sit on them. I wanted the 2 mm lead as it is stout enough for marking on studs and other materials without breaking. I use the colored leads for marking drawings as well and the in cap sharpener while crude is very handy. I have bought plastic body versions of these and they have not help up well but have used one of these pencils daily for the last 4 months and all are still functioning.

Best for general use and value for price.
For office use this set is great. As others have noted there is even a decent sharpener in the cap. It's only a sharpener though; not a drafting lead pointer. So artists beware:If you were hoping to be able to quickly re-sharpen your lead in a rotary lead pointer because you need a needle sharp point fairly constantly - forgetaboutit :-( These pencil barrels are too thick to work with my Staedtler 502. That's definitely a chore for a manual pointer.
