Tipton Gun Cleaning and Maintenance Mat Gray

Not as pictured....I have a cleaning mat that I bought at a gun show and it's a nice rubber material about a 1/8 inch think or more,but it's for pistols and not long enough for rifle work so that's what prompted me to order this one. looking at the picture, it looks nice and thick and the product detail dimensions read 8.5 x 7.4 x 3.5 inches who knows where they got that from but it's not the dimensions of this item. lol. Besides the product details being off the item itself is very thin and flimsy. Not what I want for a gun or rifle cleaning mat....It has a neoprene bottom on it which helps prevent slipping but over all the mat itself is thin and cheep feeling to me. I am returning mine and buying one of the neoprene AR 15 mats with the parts breakdown on it, which I should have bought at the last gun show I attended. I hope this helps anyone out there that's thinking about ordering one of these.

Great Mat, Affordable, wont scratch the finish of any firearms. Debris and residue wipes right off with a paper towel too. The underside is rubber so it wont slip and slide and also prevents any oil from bleeding through to the surface underneath. The only issue I found was it smells terrible when you first get it out of the package so you need to let it air out. It took about a week before the strong smell was gone, its still faint though if you smell it close up. It filled my whole workshop with the smell for a couple days too but that's gone now.

This is a great cleaning mat. It has the strong smell of neoprene when you first open it, but you just have to let it air out for a few days and it goes away.Very nice size for all rifle lengths or working on pistols and rifles at the same time. I purchased this product after dripping some solvent on the dining table. This will resolve that problem, as it is neoprene or something very similar with the rubber backing and nylon type material on the other side to prevent scratching your guns.I would recommend this for anyone looking for a great, large cleaning mat that provides protection from damaging surfaces that you are working on top of and protecting your firearms for scratches and damage. It grips the surface you place it on and also provides a solid surface for your firearms.

I needed a long mat for my C&R rifles. Tipton has the size I needed to do this effectively. Rolls up easy for storage, and doesn't takes up hardly any space when not in use. The only down side that I have is that it stains. As it's made from a neoprene like material and will absorb whatever is dropped or dripped on it. In other words, it gets dirty quickly and doesn't clean up well. Reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise it is perfect for cleaning applications and gives plenty of extra room for all parts of your firearm.

Got this to replace my old Tipton mat which was made out of a felt like material and backed with thin rubber. I like this new material better since it doesn't put lint on my guns and is easy to clean debris off of. The material on the top of the mat similar to a mouse pad but neoprene material behind it is softer than a mouse pad. It keeps my guns from getting scratched and my work bench clean. Another good product from Tipton.

Nice looking mat. Clean, and looong! Has a nice feel to it. I think someone else mentioned it already, but the top has the texture of a mouse pad. It's really thin - so thin, that when I was hammering a roll pin into a gas block, the gas block made what looks to be a permanent indentation in the pad. Oh well ... it's for working on ... not trying to put my workbench on display!

I am writing reviews from purchases I made in 2012 and this mat is one of those items. I am still using it in 2019 to clean my firearms and work on other small mechanical items. Its a nice mat!!

Excellent mat! No problems with cleaning it or tearing. Plenty big for rifles or pistols. That's why I got it so it's big enough to clean both on it. Besides if you need a part diagram on your mat then maybe you shouldn't be trying to fool around with the gun anyway.
