Not quite as pictured
A fine sand that took a LOT of rinsing. Not the end of the world just be prepared to rinse well before using fir fish tank. A nice fine grain for cory etc but colour not as pictured... I chose the natural colour which looked a nice warm yellow sand speckled colour but it definitely fell more on the grey with black speckles so I couldn't use it as didn't blend at all with the gravel on other half of my tank unfortunately...

Does the job it's designed for
This aquarium gravel has been doing a good job since 2013 covering the bottom of a 40 litre tank to an excellent depth thanks to a generous 8kg bag. The multicoloured grains of red, white and blue arrived well packed in a thicker than typical plastic bag, ensuring that the contents didn't spill during transit. It arrived reasonably dusty so was placed in a washing up bowl for swilling under a cold water tap for 15 minutes which soon sorted this issue out. The grains themselves have been carefully profiled so that tropical fish will not catch their delicate fins and gills on any sharp edges, each grain is smooth which is a feature I like a lot. They allow aquarium ornaments to be solidly and easily sited to give the fish things to explore whilst ensuring that those objects remain secured in position with just a little pressure to bed them in.The use of three colours adds an attractive feature to the base of the tank and apart from an initial residual dustiness they've stayed in good condition for six years and should give many more happy years of service. Occasional green algae does build up on the gravel however, but I've found this easy to deal with by picking up handfuls and turning it around which seems to dislodge the problem algae. The profile of the beads used means that it is easy to form the gravel into positions other than a purely flat surface to give the fish a bit of variety and interest - I've tried moulding the gravel with one corner higher than the rest, with the bottom looking like sand dunes which resemble the fishes natural environment more and the gravel always stays where it is placed. A nice, simple product that does the job it's designed for, both form and function have clearly been thought through.

It's not gravel
Don't be fooled into thinking this is gravel of any kind, it's sand and VERY fine sand at thatThe product is fine if that's what you're after and does look lovely in the tank but to call it gravel is misleading.

Pettex Roman Gravel Aquatic Roman Gravel, 2 Kg
I used this gravel to cover a flower patch in my garden and it adds that finishing touch with the flowers and the spotlights it looks really cool. The gravel was delivered really fast and was well packed but the only bad thing is they could offer bigger bags as I need a lot more to cover the hole area. I still need about 100 2kg bags to finish it off but the most I can get at one time is 10.

Not sand but its good
I agree with other reviews that this is fine ground gravel but it's very fine and good for my shrimps. Washed and then soaked in Prime and it hasn't caused any problems to fish or shrimps .

Just what I needed
I bought this gravel to put into my clear vases to hold my artificial Sunflowers in place. The gravel was easy to clean and I then let it dry for a couple of days in the sun. It has now made my lughtweight vase more stable and harder to knock over.
