Great book, but definitely not a new copy
The book was in good condition, but a few marks were covered up by permanent marker. Not new, but not bad enough to return.

a great buy for jazz music lovers of all ages
The first time I saw this book was on a Reading Rainbow episode years ago. The artwork pulls you into the time period and the jazz music, making this book a real treasure to own. If you enjoy the book, I recommend purchasing the audiobook also and let your imagination groove to the sounds of jazz and the city. Definitely worth 5 stars!

Love this story and book already
Love this story and book already, with cool illustrations that capture a truly jazzy mood. The CD enhances the story with a great narrator voice and outstanding mood-enhancing music, which draws one into the story even deeper and stronger. I had this on a cassette tape for years, and needed to get the CD. Great use in the music classroom.

Great book with fabulous illustrations
We had originally checked out this book from our library, but my son (who loves music & instruments) liked it so much, I ended up purchasing it. The story is good about a boy who plays his imaginary trumpet and then (spoiler alert) gets to play with a real trumpet and learn from the trumpet player from the jazz band. I especially love the illustrations - very beautiful and expressive of the style music and instruments that it writing about - even though it is just in black and white.

Beautiful imagery
I love the images and pictures in this book! Very nice, wished it was also available in hardback because I dont want my little one to tear the pages.

Love it!
I simply love this book. We brought it home from the library for bedtime reading with my kids, and I liked it so much I went out and grabbed a copy. Believe it or not, it's worth the cost, and the CD (which was not available at the library) is fantastic.

Music is always good!
A terrific story of following your passion and how it can lead to enriching your life. Set in New York City and the illustrations draw the reader into the story, the setting, and the details. Great book.

Inspirational
This is one of those books that inspires kids to hold on to their dreams, because they may one day come true. It encourages kids to keep imagining things, even if others don’t understand and laugh. Leaves you with a beautiful feeling. Very unique beautiful illustrations.
